OSHA 29 CFR 1910.157 requires portable fire extinguishers to be visually inspected monthly.
OSHA 1910.157(d)(2) says employers must place extinguishers for ordinary combustible (Class A) fires so no employee travels more than 75 feet to reach one.
Carnegie Mellon EHS notes that carbon dioxide extinguishers are not equipped with a pressure gauge, so the gauge check does not apply to them.
Yearly extinguisher inspection prices published on the pages we read run from $4.75 to $10 (9 published prices). Ask what the price includes before you book.
Fire extinguishers need a maintenance check every year by a licensed company, and sprinkler, alarm and kitchen hood systems have their own schedules. Tell us when your last inspection was and we'll text you a month before the next one is due, with licensed companies near you.
