Corrections
A fire marshal will hold you to the real rule, not ours. When a license fact, an inspection interval, a fee or a price here is wrong, we fix it and date the fix.
How to report an error
Email editor@fireinspectornear.com with the page address and what is wrong. Companies: include the license number and the state list it is on. A company that asks to be removed is removed the same day. You do not need to be a customer, and a business never has to pay or advertise to get its page corrected.
How fast we fix it
When we confirm an error, the fix is live on the site within one business day and is added to the log below with its date. If we cannot confirm it, we tell you what we checked.
What we can change, and what we cannot
We fix:
- A license class, number or expiry date that differs from the state license list we cite.
- A company's phone, website, address or services, once the company or its Google profile confirms the change.
- An inspection interval, fire marshal fee, bid price or quote that differs from the page we cite, and links that no longer work.
We cannot change:
- The state's license record. The fire marshal or licensing board keeps it, and our next read of its list picks up the change.
- Your local fire code. Your fire marshal can require more than the state minimum we describe.
Log of corrections and updates
A correction means we had something wrong. An update means the source changed or moved. Design and speed changes are not listed.
- October 11, 2026 Update
8 official links fixed after their owners moved the pages (the Illinois fire sprinkler statute, Idaho rules, the Nebraska alarm license page, Goshen, Cumberland County and an NFPA article); the 24 quotes on them were checked again. Oklahoma replaced its dated fire extinguisher company list with a newer file, so the guide no longer names a file date. - October 11, 2026 Correction
Service labels taken from company websites now show only services the company's own site offers. A sample check found 94 of 100 labels right before the change (testimonials and a technician's training read as services). A fresh sample after the change found 99 of 100 right. - October 9, 2026 Correction
4 listings came off the site. Two had been matched to the wrong Google profile (another company's), and two were license holders that service only their own plant (a power plant and a chip plant), not the public. - October 7, 2026 Correction
A fire extinguisher price was re-sourced to the seller's own product page, because the figure we had quoted sat in an unrelated box on another page. Two quotes from a University of Central Florida document were corrected to its exact words.
