What fire marshals charge for inspections and permits

Fire inspection and permit fees copied from each city's or county's own fee schedule, with the date printed on it and a link to the document. We never average them: every city sets its own.

61 published fees
13 city and county fee schedules
1 state fire marshal schedule

A fire marshal fee pays for the city's own permit, plan review or inspection visit. The licensed company that services your extinguishers, sprinklers, alarm or kitchen hood system charges separately; for what companies offered on public contracts, see public bid prices. Some cities collect fire fees through their building or permitting office; each schedule below names the office that publishes it.

Questions

What does a fire marshal charge for a re-inspection?

It depends on the city. A failed fire alarm test in a building of 4 or more stories costs $100 to re-inspect in Little Rock. A Moore Fire Department reinspection costs 30.00. The Creve Coeur Fire Protection District charges a $200 lost plans or extra inspection fee, paid before a reinspection. After the two inspections included in a Fort Worth sprinkler permit, each further inspection is billed at $110.00 per hour.

Is there a city fee for a kitchen hood suppression system?

Some of the schedules we read do. Bentonville charges $145.00 for the first kitchen hood and duct suppression system and $72.50 for each additional hood. Little Rock's fee ordinance sets the permit for a range hood suppression system at $200. Little Rock lists a $100 fee for an Ansul (kitchen hood suppression) system inspection by the fire department. Moore charges 35.00 to review plans for a commercial vent hood.

Is a fire marshal fee the same as what a company charges?

No. A fire marshal fee pays for the city's own permit, plan review or inspection visit. The licensed company that inspects and tags your extinguishers, sprinklers or hood system bills you separately.

Your city is not here? Its fire marshal or fire prevention office posts the current schedule; the fee in force is the one on that schedule. More on costs: fire marshal fees and service prices · extinguisher inspection prices · check a company's license.
