Each certified contractor needs a responsible managing employee who holds NICET Level III or IV in automatic sprinkler layout (or another recognized certification) and is an owner, partner or officer of the company.
Getting licensed in Nebraska
A certified contractor must keep general and completed operations liability insurance of at least $1 million for installation, inspection and testing work.
Nebraska contractor certificates expire on September 30 of the year after they are issued, and a renewal must include a sworn statement that the responsible managing employee still works there.
A contractor whose certification lapses must file a new application and test again.
Violating Nebraska's water based contractor law is a Class V misdemeanor, and the State Fire Marshal may add a civil penalty of up to $250 a day.
