Fire pumps and standpipes
The Alabama Department of Public Health weekly fire pump form, based on the 1998 edition of the national standard, says the listed inspections are all performed weekly.
Testing
The same Alabama form asks whether an electric motor driven pump started automatically and ran for at least 10 minutes.
For diesel engine driven pumps, the Alabama form asks whether the pump ran for at least 30 minutes.
Clark County Fire Department in Nevada requires an operational permit for every fire pump and an annual submittal of the pump flow test results.
Clark County says the fire pump operational permit is issued to and kept by the building owner.
The Seattle Fire Department standpipe test report says a flow test is required every five years for all automatic standpipe systems.
The Seattle report also checks that manual dry and semi-automatic dry standpipes passed their 5-year hydrostatic test.
OSHA 1910.158(e)(2)(iii) requires standpipe hose systems to be inspected at least once a year and after each use.
